Soccer Aid Safari - Raising funds for the Vanessa Grant Trust

On 28th August 2023, two tribes will face off in Cornwall’s biggest football fundraiser.

It’s on. Save the date, and get ready for a day of family fun, fundraising, food, and (of course) - football.

Held at AFC St Austell on 28th August 2023, Soccer Aid Safari aims to raise £10,000 for the Vanessa Grant Trust. It’ll be an action packed day, including entertainment, refreshments, a junior football tournament (with prizes!) - and our main event - an epic football battle between two incredible teams - fighting to raise the coveted Soccer Safari Cup.

What’s it all about?

Soccer Aid Safari - raising funds and awareness

Are you ready for one of Cornwall’s biggest charity sporting events? It’s time to get wild for charity! Belly laughs and favourite family memories are just waiting to be made - so join us for a fantastic family day out full of football, food and fun, all whilst raising funds for an amazing cause.

Soccer Aid Safari 2023 is an event primarily aimed at raising funds and awareness for the Vanessa Grant Trust, as well as a nominated local charity. From junior matches to senior kick-offs, it’s all to play for at this year’s Soccer Aid Safari. It’s an excellent opportunity for us to come together as a community that cares and can get the ball rolling (literally!) for a great cause.

From face-painting and bouncy castles to lots of tasty food and snacks (plus a bar for the grown-ups of course!) - there’s something for everyone to enjoy and get into the safari spirit. It’s set to be an amazing day of family fun, football, and fundraising.
All that, and the battle we’ve all been waiting for.

Finally, it’s happening. Managers Phil Lafferty (St Blazey Football Club) and Chris Knight (St Austell Football Club) will each create a team of formidable football warriors - the day culminating in an epic battle between the Cheetahs and the Lions for the chance to raise the one and only Soccer Safari Cup. Not one to be missed!

More about The Vanessa Grant Trust

The Vanessa Grant Trust is an amazing educational charity based in the rural community of Rongai, Kenya. The main goals of the charity are:

  • To provide and improve education in these schools by supporting the continuous development of facilities.
  • To help teachers to develop their skills and acquire ongoing practical knowledge and training.
  • To develop bursary and mentorship support for students who need it most. 
  • To run volunteer and outreach programs for people from different cultures to contribute to the schools.
