Running the London Marathon for Gene People

At Fluid, we’re all about meaningful merchandise.
And to us, meaningful merch isn’t just the products we brand, it’s also about the exceptional people we work with.
So, when a member of our team does something wonderful, like, say, training to run a marathon and raising money for charity, we’re there supporting them every step of the way.
Meet Aaron Loveridge
Aaron Loveridge, our Chief Revenue Officer at Brand Revolution, has set himself the goal of running the London Marathon at the end of April, raising money for the extraordinary charity Gene People.
The London Marathon has always been on Aaron’s bucket list, and this year, Aaron is thrilled to be taking on the challenge.
Gene People is dedicated to improving the lives of individuals and families affected by genetic conditions, offering support, advocacy, and hope.

About Gene People
Gene People is a registered charity hoping to support the lives of individuals and families affected by genetic conditions.
It’s estimated that 1 in 25 children are affected by a genetic condition, with 30,000 babies and children newly diagnosed every year.
Gene People is here for families - from diagnosis to beyond. They’re a leading source of information, they host a genetic counsellor-led helpline for those seeking advice and guidance, plus they provide a safe space for families when they need them most.
Aaron’s London Marathon training
Is this your first time running the London Marathon?
“Yeah, this will be my first London Marathon!”
Are you an avid marathon runner?
“No, this will actually be my first full marathon! I’ve run several half marathons, but this is a whole new challenge that I’m eager to complete.”
How’s training going?
“I’ll be honest, it’s tough! Waking up at 4:30 am to squeeze in a three-hour run before a busy weekend with the kids isn’t something I’d recommend, that’s for sure. But it’s all part of the journey, and I can have a lie-in once I’ve run the marathon, right?”
Do you have a favourite artist or playlist to run to?
“I’m more of a podcast or Audible guy. Right now, I’ve been listening to ‘The Rest Is Politics' - a podcast formed by former Downing Street Director of Communications and Strategy Alastair Campbell and cabinet minister Rory Stewart - though probably best not to get into that! I’ve also just started Bob Iger’s (the CEO of Disney) autobiography.”
What’s your biggest driving factor/inspiration for running the London Marathon?
“I've always wanted to run the London Marathon after watching it on TV as a kid. Growing up, I loved Cross-Country and Athletics, and this feels like a major milestone—one to finally tick off the bucket list!”
Do you have any personal goals you want to achieve with the marathon?
“I’m naturally competitive and started with some ambitious goals… but as training has progressed, I’ve adjusted my expectations! Since it’s my first marathon - and it’s in London - my main focus is to enjoy the experience, soak up the atmosphere, and have some fun!”
What advice would you give to someone prepping for the marathon?
“If you have a young family, find ways to fit training around them! For me, that means late-night runs after they’re asleep or early mornings before the day gets too busy.
"Also, run wherever you are - I managed to even get in some marathon miles whilst visiting our new headquarters in Texas!"
Do you have a strategy?
“Eating loads and loads of energy gels and all the Jelly Babies!”
Do you have a favourite piece of training gear?
“Yes! I have a very old Fluid branded training top made from classic lightweight polyester with a funky geometric pattern. The branding is at least two rebrands old, so I’d say it’s officially retro now.”
What are you looking forward to most?
“Seeing my kids in the crowd! I’m really excited for them to experience the atmosphere, and I hope it inspires them to do something similar in the future, too.”
