We’re a tight-knit bunch here at Fluid and are always looking out for each other. We love supporting our local communities, and we love to champion those that make Fluid such a wonderful place to work.
With that in mind, we give each member of our team two paid volunteer days a year. This allows them to go and do good whenever they can. We want to encourage our team to get involved with raising funds or volunteering for causes or charities that they feel passionate about, especially when it’s so close to their hearts.
Rosie Franklin, one of our merchandise consultants, climbed Snowdon in order to raise funds for Heart UK in honour of her late Dad. She decided to end her climb in a monumental way too - by going down the Velocity 2 - the world’s fastest zip line.
Heart UK is a cholesterol charity. Unfortunately, there are no symptoms of high cholesterol, making it hard to detect. But, with the help of Heart UK, awareness is being raised and lives saved. You can find out more over at Heart UK.
“Definitely my Dad. He was such a hard worker and always kept himself busy, which is why I wanted to challenge myself with something I've never done before! Plus, I wanted to do something monumental to raise awareness of the risk of high cholesterol.”
“My partner and I went for super long dog walks (which our dog loved!) along the Sussex Downs. If you know the area, it’s extremely hilly so was great practice for Snowdon. It was so cool seeing our stamina increase with each walk.”
“Yes! We aimed to get the whole climb done in 8 hours tops. This would mean climbing up the Pyg track in under 4 hours, and then down the Miners Track in 4 hours, too. I was super chuffed that we actually managed to achieve this!”
“Ultimately, I hope to raise awareness for the risks of high cholesterol, as well as a useful donation to Heart UK. It would be great to exceed our fundraising goals to help Heart UK fund their efforts into the education and research of high cholesterol.”
“We chose to ride the Velocity 2 after our climb, which is the world's fastest zip line - it goes up to 118mph! It was such an amazing experience and I would definitely recommend it if you’re a thrill seeker or just want to challenge yourself to do something daunting! Seriously, it was such an adrenaline rush and definitely in my top ten best things I’ve ever done (including climbing Snowdon, of course!).”
“Yes! You can still donate via my JustGiving page below! Or, you can donate directly to Heart UK. Currently, we’ve raised an amazing £2,020 which I’m so grateful for.”
“Ooo, that’s a tricky one! But I would have to say:
1. To train for it! And start training way before you actually think you need to.
2. Start your walk in the early hours of the morning so you can see the sunrise at the summit - it’s seriously an amazing moment and totally worth the early start.
3. Make sure to bring ALL the snacks and drinks to keep your energy up! And don’t forget your reusable water bottle.
4. But overall, make sure you have fun and really take in your surroundings at every stage - it's all so beautiful!”
We’re here to help you and our team dream big.
Whether that’s through meaningful merchandise or helping the communities we love.
We’re all about making a big, beautiful, positive impact whenever we can!
