Fluid are delighted to share some of their recent charity endeavours.

From supporting their local communities and climbing mountains to hosting their second Cornwall Soccer Aid, Fluid likes to encourage their team to get involved with raising funds or volunteering for causes or charities that they feel passionate about. Fluid offers their team two paid volunteer days a year for every single member of the team. Fluid would like to shine the spotlight on some of these achievements over the last couple of months.

Soccer Aid Safari’s second-year success

On the 26th of August 2024, Fluid hosted the second Cornwall Soccer Aid Safari at AFC St. Austell, Cornwall, to raise funds for the Vanessa Grant Trust and Cornwall Hospice Care.

“It was a hugely successful day!” said Brandon Tregidgo, Fluid’s Talent & Culture Lead.

The day was another great success with its wild safari theme. From junior matches to senior kick-offs, it was all to play for at this year’s Soccer Aid Safari. It was an excellent opportunity for the local community to come together and get the ball rolling (literally!) for a great cause.

This year’s event motto was “bigger and better” after listening to feedback from last year. From face painting and music to competitions, amazing food and even bouncy castles, the day was an inclusive, family event that brought the community together - with a whole lot of football!

Overall, the event raised a total of £26,500 for the Vanessa Grant Trust and £1,000 for Cornwall Hospice Care.soccer aid safari roundup blog header

What it’s like to be a Girlguiding volunteer: Hannah’s story

Hannah Matthews, Fluid’s Digital Marketing Coordinator, spent two days volunteering and camping with her local Girlguiding group.

Girlguiding is the UK’s largest youth organisation dedicated completely to girls. Through fun, friendship, challenge and adventure they empower girls to discover the best in themselves and to make a positive difference in their community.

From an afternoon spent at the snowsports centre in Plymouth to playing water games at the campsite, the weekend was full of helping the girls push themselves outside of their comfort zone.

“I think the main thing I learnt at camp was about resilience, and the importance of just continuing to show up and try,” said Hannah.

A key highlight was Monday evening, Hannah noted, where the girls took it upon themselves to orchestrate a full show, complete with a starting jingle, background dancers, and the two oldest girls yelling ‘Action!’ and ‘Cut!’.

“It was so lovely to watch them all having fun and being creative together,” said Hannah.Blog Headers 2024 (23)

Kyle’s Mount Kenya Fundraising Adventure

In August, Fluid’s Director of Strategy Kyle Scott embarked on an 8-day expedition to conquer the summit of Mount Kenya to raise funds for the Vanessa Grant Trust.

The Vanessa Grant Trust is an educational charity based in the rural community
of Rongai, Kenya. They provide and improve education in local schools by supporting the
continuous development of facilities, helping teachers to develop their skills and acquire ongoing practical knowledge and training. They also develop bursary and mentorship support for students who need it most.

Towering at 5,199 meters (17,057 feet) high, Mount Kenya stands as Africa's second-highest peak, surpassed only by Kilimanjaro. And thanks to a combination of challenging terrain, ice climbing routes and its proximity to the equator, Mount Kenya is certainly a challenging climb - but one worth doing to help those in need.

“I’m happy to announce we ended up raising £3,000! Plus, thanks to Fluid’s match funding scheme, this has been doubled to an amazing £6,000,” said Kyle.

The Vanessa Grant Trust currently has several projects that need funding and this £6,000 will help bring those to life. Fluid has raised over £20,000 for the charity this year, and some of the team will be travelling to Kenya in the next 12 months to help with future projects.Kyle’s Mount Kenya Fundraising Adventure blog
