With the darker, rainier days of winter, it’s even more important that your plants get enough sunlight.
Ensure they are somewhere in your home that gets the best light by moving them closer to a window or even following the sun during the day with your plants.
These are both great ways to ensure your plants get to enjoy those winter rays for longer.
In the winter, your beloved plants don’t need as much water. It’s always better to do the finger test first rather than watering to your usual schedule.
Dip your finger in the soil up to your second knuckle - if your finger comes out dry, then your buddy is thirsty, if wet, then no need for water!
It’s great for your leafy friends to be near windows for the sunshine, but make sure those windows don’t have any draughts. Keep them from touching cold window panes, and make sure they’re staying at a consistent temperature (so not near any radiators, either!).

In the winter, plants like to have a little snooze and actually stop growing - storing all their energy for spring when it’s warmer. Because of this, your plants would rather you don’t disturb their slumber, so no repotting in the winter months!
It’s normal for a few of your plant’s leaves to turn brown in the winter. This is just them adjusting to their new frostier surroundings. It’s perfectly safe to still gently pluck these out, but if there are more brown leaves than green, you may need to do some urgent plant TLC.
With the lack of sunlight in the winter, your plants need all the help they can get to photosynthesis more efficiently. Make sure their leaves are dust-free with a microfibre cloth.
